Shape Shopping......Skirts

By Elaine Scully Styling

I've been a little quiet on my blog recently due to being very busy with work. As I'm having a lovely relaxing weekend off I've finally gotten around to writing a new post. As a personal shopper I love finding flattering pieces that will create lots of outfit options for my clients and because I'm at home for the weekent I decided to hit the online shops for on-trend skirts that will balance out the most common body issues.

When it comes to shopping for your shape the key is to bring balance to your figure. For example if you are top heavy (strawberry shape) then add volume and attention to your lower half, at the same time keeping your larger top half streamlined.

Hourglass Figure - your top and bottom half are already balanced so caress your curves and draw attention to your waist

Straight Figure - your top and bottom half are balanced but you are lacking feminine curves. This tulip skirt will add shape to your figure and show off your slim waistline

Bronze metallic tulip skirt, €29.99, New Look

Pear Figure - you have a curvier lower half. Slim your shape by wearing darker colours on your bottom half. Avoid adding extra volume in this area but instead look for styles that will skim over your hips. The soft pleating draws the eye downwards having a slimming effect on your hips

Black lace skater mini skirt, €17.99, New Look

Apple Figure - you carry all of your weight on your tummy. Choose skirts with fastenings on the side or back of skirt. Avoid any details on your tummy area. The volume at the hem of the skirt will slim and balance your tummy

Black peplum hem skirt, €40, A|wear

Strawberry Figure - you are larger on your top half. Bring balance by choosing an a-line skirt or a skirt with volume. Avoid pencil skirts unless they have a built in peplum. Select short styles that will show off your slim legs and the print will draw all the attention to your slim lower half
