Our AWear "Chanel" inspired Shoot: Behind the Scene's

by Anne Hutton Makeup & Beauty, Carlow

So today I though I'd do a little "behind the scenes" piece on our recent photoshoot here in our hometown of Carlow. On board were photographer Shaun Barry, stylist Elaine Scully (my blogging buddy!) model Suzanne Moran, hair stylist Clare Hannaford, and makeup by me. Not forgetting of course AWear clothing, where Elaine took inspiration from the Chanel catwalks and added her own creative twist.

Making the eyebrows - steady hand required!
For me it began a couple of weeks before the shoot. Elaine really liked the crazy glittery eyebrows that the Chanel models wore for the Autumn/Winter catwalk shows, so I had to get the thinking cap on, and create my own unique "eyebrows" and makeup look. So onto ebay to order lots of rhinestones I go! I chose gun-metal grey, black and multicoloured stones.

Fast forward to the day before the shoot, and here I am sticking rhinestones to muslin cloth with superglue and a tweezers, praying that they will fit Suzanne properly. I made a backup set just in case, but thankfully they fit perfectly!

Makeup-wise I chose a deep burgundy colour for the lips, and minimal eyemakeup - just mascara. I made Suzanne's pale skin even paler for an almost theatrical effect.I painted Suzanne's nails with Gosh metallic silver nail polish.

Changing lip colour before adding the lace mask
The other look I really wanted to do here was a masquerade inspired "black lace across the face", which I thought was also fitting to our theme. For this I bought some black lace knicker shorts (I kid you not!) in Penneys, and cut them up to size. Hair stylist Clare helped me out here by pinning the edges of the lace into Suzanne's hair, and the fluffing the hair over the edges for a seamless look.

I also changed the lip colour to a bright poppy red, which works well against the black and gold outfit.

For more images from this shoot, see my website or Facebook page.

For details on the clothes and accessories used, Elaine will be blogging about that shortly.

Thanks to AWear, Shaun Barry, Elaine Scully, Suzanne Moran and Clare Hannaford for making this a really fun shoot!
