Professionally and personally trends for me are inspiration for your style. Shopping for clothes becomes far less overwhelming if you've spent a little time checking out what the designers say is in fashion right now or what your favourite celeb is choosing to wear. I love a visit to Vogue online and I just adore my Vogue App on my iphone. The RTW (ready to wear) shows are the best. Try to look at the details - you probably won't wear the entire look they've put together because they are styled to make a statement on the runway - so simply focus on the detailing or individual pieces that you like. When it comes to celebs I do try to get inspiration here in Ireland from the likes of Pippa O'Connor, I find her style classy and fun - a brilliant and achievable mix!
Your wardrobe needs to be built from pieces that work for you season after season. Items that are versatile and can create lots of different outfit combinations. A good idea is to assess which trends will suit you and your wardrobe, you want to look for trends that you can wear for at least the next 2 seasons. I have put together, in my opinion, the best trends to buy into for Spring/Summer 2018.
Trend 1: The Trench Coat
A new coat is always a great place to start when updating your wardrobe. This season the Trench coat was one of the most popular styles sent down the designer runways. And of course you already know that the trench coat is a forever piece for any wardrobe. If you already own one then it's time to pull it out from the back of your wardrobe. Haven't bought into the trench trend yet then check out the styles that I found most inspiring.

My next pick of the trends is the Pencil Skirt. Similar to the Trench Coat the Pencil Skirt is a long-term keeper! I would recommend dipping into this trend with a neutral piece that you can mix and match with various colour tops and jackets. I was in Vila Carlow yesterday and they have a faux leather pencil for €34.95 in black, navy and grey....brilliant choices. It's definitely on my to do list to pop back in and try one on. I think my wardrobe needs the navy one!
Trend 3 : Denim Days
Denim!!! you don't need me to tell you to go and buy denim jeans, you will have plenty already. What I'm suggesting is that you add something else that's denim to your wardrobe such as a dress, shirt, jacket or skirt, or how about a cropped style denim jeans. What we all love about denim is that it matches every possible colour and every thinkable print. Denim is just too easy ladies!
Trend 4 : Crayola Brights
Bright enough for you ladies? Don't these vibrant colours just bring a smile to your face! If you look around the shops right now you will notice a colour division everything is either fabulously vibrant or pastel pretty. Only the brave will tempt an allover crayola look...if you do want to try this out then an outfit all in one block bright is the safe and stylish way to do it. Otherwise my advice is to add a bright top to your white trousers or a showstopping jacket to your denims.

Trend 5 : Ice-cream Hues
My next pick of the trends has me dreaming of sunny summer days, spent relaxing, eating, drinking and looking pretty......sound good? Oh Yeah! With my dark hair and sallow skin pastels are not shades I dabble in often. Deeper stronger colours suit me better but I'm definitely going to treat myself to something in the gorgeous duck egg hue. Pastels look amazing on ladies with blonde hair so this is a must trend for you guys this spring/summer. Ladies with darker hair should focus on trying out the Crayola colours and just add a sprinkling of pastels just because it's summer.

Over the coming weeks I will delve deeper into the trends, showing you my must have finds online....what to buy and where to buy it. But for now I hope I've given you lots of designer inspiration and have gotten you thinking about what your wardrobe might like this season.
I put together a vlog this week on 3 pieces summer I bought from Littlewoods Ireland and how I styled them using only items from my own wardrobe.

Happy Shopping
