It's Monday the start of a new week and for me it's also the start of an exciting (mixed with a whole load of scary) adventure. I'm setting up my own fashion styling business which I plan to launch in the new year. You can't hear me, but know that I am screaming with excitement as I type!!! Anyone who knows me will know that I had a styling business before and that this is where my passion and expertise lie. This time round I have huge experience behind me and lots of mistakes which I know I have learned from. Right now I am feeling particularly grateful and know that I am one lucky lady to have such an amazing hubby behind me, who is always encouraging me, believing in me and always knows when to remind me that I can, should, and need to do this. I am spending the lead up to Christmas finalising my plans and my branding and fingers crossed I will be sharing all the details with you in January.....I cannot wait ladies.
For now I will continue blogging and sharing my finds and tips on my blog and social media pages. So today I thought I would put together a post on Scarves.....if there's one thing I know from personal shopping and fashion buying, ladies love their scarves. It doesn't matter how many we already own we still can't help ourselves from adding more to our collection. Scarves are a brilliant way to add life to a simple outfit, or to add print and colour to a dark coat and of course they give us the warmth and coziness we need for our chilly Irish weather. Like any fashion accessory when it comes to purchasing it all comes down to your budget where you can shop. I am a big believer in buying what you can afford and wearing what you buy again and again ensuring you get value from your hard earned cash. Okay here are my finds;
Novelty Print
Novelty Print
Alice Hannah Knitted Jaquard Scarf With Cat Details €29 from Next....Shop Here |
Novelty prints are always a big seller particularly at this time of the year for christmas gifts. A stray kitten (Stephen) adopted us two months ago and since then all I see are cat prints on clothes, bags, scarves, mugs....they're everywhere!! Hence the first novelty print to catch my eye was a cat print - it is quite a cute print though isn't it? Love the pops of red too.
Colour Pop
Joules Gold Jacquelyn Reversible Scarf, €37 from Next......Shop Here |
Pops of colour can lift a dark coat and bring a glow to your complexion and this season one of the hottest colour pops are mustards and yellows. How gorgeous does this reversible Joules scarf look, the fabric looks like such a good quality and looks so soft and cozy.
Compliment your Complexion
Pieces Long Scarf €20.50 from Next......Shop Here |
Ladies just because it's Winter and the shops are overflowing with darker deeper hues does not mean you still can't wear pastels if that's what compliments your colouring. I actually think there's nothing more striking than blush colours and pastel fur trims to speak winter wonderland...love it! Pastels don't suit my complexion but I'm always drawn to others wearing soft winter hues.
Silk
Carolyn Donnelly The Edit Spot Silk Scarf €49 from Dunnes Stores......Shop Here |
Silk scarves for me give a kind of ladylike feeling when you wear them. Real silk scarves are great for draping over a coat and are perfect when what you're wearing demands something finer from your scarf. Chunky scarves don't work with every coat and can sometimes give a more casual look to your outfit. I love the colour combinations of teal, blue, red and pink in this Carolyn Donnelly scarf and for just €49 you are getting a piece of fabulous Irish design.
Fabulous Fur
Gallery Faux Fur Shawl €20 from Dunnes Stores......Shop Here |
No scarf collection would be complete without a touch of fur. A fur stole or collar is brilliant for glamming up an outfit for a night out or for those dressier occasions. I have a brown fur stole that I have for only god knows how long but every winter I take it back out give a freshen up in the wash and pop it on for events. I have a stunning purple one also which I bought on Littlewoods around 2/3 years ago and I absolutely love wearing it. The above style from Dunnes Stores is also available in black and blush. You can also find small collars and fur stoles with woollen ends, check out the full online range here
Oversized
Accessorize Greenwich Fluffy Check Scarf €28 from Littlewoods Ireland......Shop Here |
Of course I can't leave out the fluffy oversized scarf, some days the weather gives us no other option. Plus I find a big chunky blanket scarf is great for allowing you to wear one of your lighter coats or jackets if that's what your outfit requires. I love this kind of scarf wrapped around my denim jacket or my leather one. There are oversized scarves overflowing in all the shops so you'll find lots of choice and lots of price ranges to suit everyone.
Splurge
Dalkey Boats Scarf €280 from Paula Rowan......Shop Here |
Irish designer Paula Rowan, who you'll know from her delicious gloves, has now added scarves to her offering. She has teamed up with artist Mark P Cullen and drawn colour and print from his landscape paintings. Paula's scarves are priced between €280 and €425 and are woven in Italy in the finest silks. Personally they are not within my budget but if they fit nicely into your budget, I envy you!! Her scarves (along with her full range of products) can be purchased in her shop in the Westbury Mall in Dublin or paularowan.com
